On his 26th birthday, Rubén de la Red Gutiérrez is a little young to be a football veteran. Unfortunately, the Móstoles (Madrid) native had to retire last year after battling a serious heart condition for two years. In his short career however, he did have the fortune of being part of Spain’s winning squad in the 2008 Euro Cup. De la Red now works as the assistant coach for the Real Madrid Juvenil A team. Today the gorgeous midfielder had the opportunity to play again, in the Corazón Classic, a charity match between Real Madrid and Bayern Munich veterans to raise money for schools in Africa. Real Madrid’s squad also included galácticos Zidane and Figo, as well as first team assistant coach Aitor Karanka. Madrid won 8-3, with De la Red getting the first goal in a penalty.
