Atlético Madrid 1 (Diego Costa) – Zaragoza 0. Another overzealous ref (Muñiz Fernández) officiated this one, who handed out eleven cards in all, mostly to Atlético. Even young keeper De Gea was shown one, presumably for time-wasting (I seem to have missed that). Atlético secured their three points with Diego Costa’s goal, but they weren’t at their best. In addition to the seven yellow cards they received, José Antonio Reyes was given a straight red for a challenge against Matteo Contini.

Hércules 2 (Trezeguet 2) – Sevilla 0. Another big upset for newly-promoted Hércules. I like these guys. Frenchman David Trezeguet scored two lovely goals, and Sevilla never recovered. Sevilla have not been living up to expectations this season, and manager Antonio Álvarez was fired after yesterday’s loss. Hopefully former Mallorca coach Gregorio Manzano will do a better job.

Mallorca 2 (Cavenaghi 2) – Real Sociedad 0. Mallorca’s Fernando Cavenaghi scored two goals, one in each half of the match. And apart from a few weak chances from Real Sociedad, that was about it.

Deportivo 0 – Almería 2 (Uche 2). Yet another double, this time from Kala Uche, who scored a pair early on. Everyone else was atrocious. Almería moves all the way up to 13th, and Deportivo is now in the second-last spot.

Racing 0 – Getafe 1 (Víctor). I do love my Racing boys, but man do they suck. Birthday boy Markus Rosenberg was slightly better than his teammates, but his few chances were blocked by Jordi Codina. Rosenberg sent off just before the end of the match after collecting two yellow cards. Getafe were only slightly better, with Víctor scoring a lone goal in the first half.

Espanyol 1 (Álvaro) – Osasuna 0. Nineteen-year-old Álvaro Vázquez played his very first fixture as a starter yesterday. He got Lolo sent off after only twenty minutes, after the Osasuna midfielder committed two consecutive fouls against him. And five minutes later, he got the only goal of the match. Bien hecho, niño.
