Please forgive the watermark. FC Barcelona seem to be the only ones astute enough to photograph Villa sans shirt.

Barcelona 1 (Villa) – Sporting 0. The blaugrana had an exhausting week and were a Messi short, and it showed. Despite the laboured play, David Villa managed a classic goal early in the second half against his first club.

Valencia 1 (Aduriz) – Atlético 1 (Simao). Other than an early goal from Simao, the match was essentially Valencia vs. David De Gea, who continued to prove his exceptional goalkeeping. The one shot he failed to block was from Aduriz in the 83rd minute, ending the game with a draw.

Almería o – Levante 1 (Sergio). Levante come away with their first win of the season, with a golazo from Sergio Gonzáles.

Zaragoza 0 – Hércules 0. Goalkeeper Juan Calatayud of Hércules proved to be the best player of the match, and Zaragoza keeper Leo Franco wasn’t far behind, as neither side managed a goal. Zaragoza slips to last place, having yet to secure a win.
