Hércules 1 (Trezeguet penalty) – Valencia 2 (Mata, Pablo Hernández). Juan Mata scored the first goal for Valencia right off the bat, followed by Pablo Hernández later in the half. In a repeat of Saturday’s Mallorca-Osasuna match, David Trezeguet scored a penalty goal after a David Navarro handball. Valencia remains undefeated this season and moves into first place in the standings.

Levante 1 (Felipe Caicedo) – Villarreal 2 (Nilmar 2). Brazilian cutie Nilmar scored two goals in the first half, with assists by Santi Cazorla and Giuseppe Rossi. Despite Caicedo’s late goal, Levante remain in last place.

Racing 2 (Henrique, Ariel) – Zaragoza 0. An ick match, but Henrique and Ariel managed to score for in the second half,  giving Racing its first win of the season.

Málaga 1 (Rondón) – Sevilla 2 (Alfaro, Martín Cáceres). Sevilla was missing Jesús Navas and Luis Fabiano yesterday, as both were still recovering from injury. (Fabiano is expected to play against Racing Santander on Thursday). José Rondón used the home field advantage to score an early goal for Málaga, but Alfaro responded a few minutes later with an assist from yum midfielder Diego Perotti (above). Uruguay’s Martín Cáceres headed in a winning goal for Sevilla just before half-time, and the match was essentially over with that.
