Cute madrileño Alberto Bueno Calvo scored his first La Liga goal in over two years (and second one ever) today. The 24-year-old striker/winger has spent the last two seasons in the second division with Valladolid, and is undoubtedly glad to be back in the top division. Valladolid lost to Atlético today, but Bueno’s goal averted a shutout.

Dreamy midfielder Franco Zuculini played his first match of the season today, coming on as a substitute in the 73rd minute. Although the 22-year-old Argentine didn’t play much, he did get to enjoy Zaragoza’s 3-1 win over Osasuna.

Newly-promoted Real Valladolid slid into second place (just behind Barcelona) after 24-year-old midfielder Víctor Pérez Alonso scored a brace against Levante. Both were penalties, so it looks like this Albacete native can perform under pressure.

Although he didn’t stand out, 28-year-old midfielder Piotr Artur Trochowski played well in today’s match against Granada. He was born in Poland, played for Germany’s national team, and is a dreamboat.

Álvaro Vázquez García has been playing with Espanyol in his hometown of Barcelona since he was 14. The adorable striker scored the first goal of today’s match, but Real Zaragoza went on to win 2-1. He also won the Silver Boot in last year’s Under-20 World Cup, so he has a bright future.

Nélson Miguel Castro Oliveira first came to my attention last summer during the Under-20 World Cup, where he emerged as one of the stars of the tournament. He popped up again this summer when he played for Portugal at the Euro Cup. So I was pleased to learn that the lovely young striker (he just turned 21) will be playing in La Liga this season, on loan from Benfica. He scored a goal in the final minutes of his debut for Dépor today, ending the match against Osasuna 2-o.

Fabricio Agosto Ramírez was the second-choice keeper for Betis last season, but the 24-year-old was selected to play in the season opener against Athletic Bilbao. Las Palmas native Fabricio let in three goals–but Betis scored 5, so he’s off the hook.

In one season, Francisco Román Alcorcón Suárez has gone from Valencia’s B-team to a star in his hometown of Málaga. Isco, who is now 20, played well during today’s match, but was overshadowed by 16-year-old Fabrice, who became the youngest ever La Liga scorer and won the match for Málaga on his debut.

Like brother-from-another-mother Ibi Afellay, Zakaria Labyad was born in Utrecht (Netherlands) to Moroccan parents, plays as a midfielder/winger, and has adorable dimples. Unlike Afellay, he chose to play for Morocco instead of Netherlands, and is still a teenager (he is 19, and Afellay is 26–but looks 19), which makes him a bit young for even me.  But I’m sure he’s just right for some of you out there. Labyad currently plays in Portugal with Sporting CP.
